Deindex or de-index refers to the act of removing a page from a search engine’s index of the Internet. A deindexed webpage or website will no longer appear in search results. A search engine may deindex a site as a penalty. A webmaster may request that search engines deindex a site that is no longer relevant, as when a URL is changed and the old URL is abandoned rather than redirected.
